As part of Swedencare’s Executive Insights, John Kane, CEO of Vetio, shares his perspective on innovation, growth, and the strategic priorities shaping Vetio’s global CDMO business. John has been part of Vetio since 2015 and brings over 28 years of experience in executive roles across the Specialty Chemicals, Human Nutrition, and Animal Health industries.
What’s happening at Vetio right now?We are focused on expanding our capabilities as a leading global animal health Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) to help our customers bring innovative products to market more efficiently. In the US, we are building out a 100,000 square foot addition for our OTC and Rx topical products, while also adding new production capacity for injection molded treats.
Which trend do you see as most promising for your area?Pet owners are increasingly focused on preventive care, nutrition, and wellness, expecting the same level of quality as they do for themselves. This is driving demand for science-backed solutions that support long-term health, which plays to Vetio’s strength in innovation. This is a global trend, and Vetio has four sites around the world to serve its customers – United States, Canada, Ireland, and the UK.
Which area will be most important to strengthen for continued growth? The animal health industry is evolving rapidly, and success will depend on the ability to develop products efficiently, navigate regulatory requirements, and scale manufacturing reliably. Strong partnerships across the value chain—from product development through commercialization—will also be increasingly important as companies work to bring new solutions to market.
As a leader, what’s your main priority looking ahead? My main priority is building a global organization that can continue to grow while maintaining the quality, agility, and customer focus that defines Vetio. That means investing in our people, strengthening our CDMO capabilities, and creating an environment where innovation thrives.
